Aram Khachaturian wrote: "Albert Markov's activities have had many facets . . . in all spheres of actions, he shows a remarkable talent. As a violinist, he is one of our best. As a teacher, he has trained excellent violinists. As a composer, he is remarkable in the originality of his compositions. In summary, Albert Markov is an outstanding musician
Dear Peter zoo,
I've red your message with great interest and I am glad to share with you some of my thoughts.
My explanation of the Russian violin fenomenon is very simple. Most of the great violinists of Russia
( Auer, Heifetz,Elman,Polyakin,Milstein,Oistrakh etc.) were Russian jews. In Russian empire jews were oppressed people and for them it was alloved only limited activity in the siciety. Music was one of them. So, in order to survive they tried very hard to develop their art.
During the Soviet period jews became legally full right citizens and were able to be successful
practically in all fields. They created something like their own culture inside of a Soviet society.
Tradition of the Violin school of Leopold Auer was working very well and gave numerous outstanding Soviet violinists.Unfortunately anti-Semitic soviet policy forced many Jews to emigrate.
Of course I am trying to simplify my explanation.
In order to change a subject , if you see my website you can notice in my works strong interest in Chinese music.
I wrote the "Chinese" Violin Concerto and "Formosa" Suite which was recorded with Russian
National Symphony on the "Sunrise "label.
Wishing you all the best,
Albert Markov
